Getting married is one of the most special moments in your life. As such, you want to share in the joy with all of your friends and family during your reception celebration. The key to keeping your loved ones entertained, however, is providing excellent musical entertainment. Therefore, there are several questions you must ask potential DJ's when deciding which one is right for you. Do you specialize in weddings? Many DJ's have years of experience, but this experience isn't necessarily with wedding receptions. There is a vast difference between a DJ with experience working at wedding receptions as compared to one who works at clubs or who DJ's school dances. DJ's with experience working at wedding receptions have knowledge of wedding traditions and how to assist in carrying out a successful reception. Make sure the DJ's you consider for your wedding reception have plenty of experience working specifically at wedding receptions. Do you have a wide variety of music? A wedding reception DJ should be able to provide music of all genres from a variety of time periods. Your reception guests will be young and old and each will have his or her own tastes in music. Therefore, you want to please everyone attending your wedding by providing a variety of music at your reception. As such, the DJ you select should be able to demonstrate that he has a wide array of music available for your reception. In addition, he needs to have an organized system that allows him to quickly locate music requested by your guests. What kind of equipment do you have? The DJ you choose needs to have the highest quality mobile equipment. In addition, he should have back-up equipment in case something goes wrong with his equipment at your reception. It would be absolutely horrible for something to go awry, leaving you with no musical entertainment for the evening! The music the DJ uses should also be digital quality on CD's, not cassette tapes, because this provides the highest quality sound. What is your personal DJ style? Some DJ's enjoy interacting frequently with the crowd, while others prefer blending into the background and talking to the crowd only when necessary. Decide which type of DJ you prefer for your wedding reception and be sure to choose the DJ that is most comfortable with your preference. Are you willing to dress for the occasion? Your DJ's personal appearance is important to your wedding reception. You want him to fit in with the theme or appearance of the wedding. Therefore, if you are having an elegant affair, your DJ must be willing to dress for the occasion. |
