Groom's Wedding Checklist

Print it and check tasks as they get completed.

6 Months Before Wedding

Pick your best man and decide how many ushers you'll need - it is recommended one usher per fifty guests. Select the ushers.
Meet with officiant or justice of the peace to discuss ceremony.
Start your guest list.
Discuss wedding expenses and budget with fiancée and all parents.
Select gift registry.
Discuss honeymoon plans. Traveling abroad? Get all documents ready (passports, visas, etc.).

3 Months Before Wedding

Give to fiancée your completed guest list.
Order formal wedding attire for yourself, best man, ushers and fathers.
Arrange transportation (limos, buses, trolleys, etc.) .
Complete honeymoon plans: buy tickets, arrange hotel, etc.
Order wedding rings and engraving.
Arrange to pay for bride's bouquet and going-away corsage; order boutonnieres for men, and corsages for mothers.
See your doctor for exams and blood test if required.

6-8 Weeks Before Wedding

Plan rehearsal dinner with your parents.
Consult with fiancée and arrange lodging for relatives and ushers from out of town.
Select gifts for best man and ushers.
Choose bride's wedding present. It is traditional to give something personal, like fine jewelry or a watch.
Make sure all documents are in order (legal, insurance, financial, medical, and religious).
Attend bachelor party, and have some fun :)
Pick up wedding rings, check engraving.
Help fiancée with thank-you notes.

2 Weeks Before Wedding

Make a date with your fiancée to get the marriage license.
Arrange for transportation from the reception to the airport or train.
Double check honeymoon reservations and hotel for wedding night.

1 Week Before Wedding

Give the officiant's fee (in a sealed envelope) to the best man, so he can hand it after the ceremony.
Get your going-away clothes ready so you can change after the reception.
Pack for your honeymoon.
Remind best man and ushers of the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner details. Present gifts to attendants at rehearsal dinner.
Arrange for rental returns.
Be sure you and your bride sign the wedding certificate and see that it is safely put away before leaving on your honeymoon.
Have best man send a thank-you note to your bride's parents the next day saying how lovely both the wedding and reception were.
